Meet Bear, Our Therapy Dog!

Meet Bear!

Bear is CAC’s Therapy Dog! She began her official duties as a Therapy Dog at the CAC in May, and we are already in awe of the work that she is doing. Our children love her and are delighted when they see her enter the lobby. Bear also brings a welcome reprieve and smiles to our CAC staff. It is still a long-term goal for Bear to become a Courthouse Facility Dog, but for now we are enjoying her new skills before we begin that rigorous training process.

Whereas a Service Dog's responsibility is to provide a service specifically to their handler, a Therapy Dog's responsibility is to provide a physiological or psychological service to others (outside of their handler). Therapy Dog certification requires extensive training and testing for both the handler and the dog and is not the same thing as an Emotional Support Animal.
