Position Title: Bilingual Child Therapist
Position Description:
Evaluate and treat child victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and witnessing violent crimes. Prepare clinical documentation according to best practice standards and all required documentation as needed by partners with law enforcement, Department of Social Services, and Solicitors to assist in the investigation and prosecution of crimes against children. Prepare child victims to testify in Family Court and General Sessions Court.
Essential Job Functions:
Provide trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) and other evidence-based treatment modalities to physically and/or sexually abused children and their families
Provide culturally-sensitive therapy to children and families of diverse backgrounds
Provide forensically-sensitive therapy
Prepare child victims for trial testimony
Prepare clinical documentation in accordance with best practice standards and CAC requirements
Prepare reports as needed for partner agencies
Participate in supervision and peer review
Participate in multidisciplinary team staffings as needed
Testify in Family Court and General Sessions Court as needed
Training:
Training in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT)
Continuing education in child maltreatment
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Licensed Master level mental health professional, either LPC, LISW-CP or LMSW
Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field
Prefer a candidate bilingual in Spanish and English
Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
Advanced knowledge of the child welfare system, including legal proceedings and investigative policies
Excellent written and oral communication skills and computer skills

Position Title: Bilingual Forensic Evaluator
Position Description:
Responsible for interviewing and assessing alleged child victims of sexual abuse, severe physical abuse, or witnesses to violent crimes referred to Children’s Advocacy Center of Spartanburg, Cherokee, and Union.
Essential Job Functions:
Coordinate interview schedules with partner agencies involved.
Conduct interviews of child sexual abuse and severe physical abuse victims including:
Developmental assessment
Competence of the child
Touch Inquiry/Abuse detail
Closure/Education
Interview non-offending parents/caretakers, obtaining background and current functioning information. Assess family and community systems.
Obtain data regarding alleged abuse history in a manner that meets legal requirements for evidence and meets social services’ needs for protection and treatment planning.
Assess risk and psychosocial well-being of the child.
Adhere to the South Carolina mandated child abuse/ neglect reporting laws.
Make an independent determination of assessment findings.
Maintain client record management. Prepare written reports; complete required case documentation. Maintain strict confidentiality concerning clients and client matters.
Ensure all documentation meets legal requirements and agency needs.
Prepare documentation for, participate in, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary staffing (CART). Share results of assessment and make recommendations for treatment as needed.
Disseminate written reports and verbal communication in accordance with data privacy laws, agency policies, and professional ethics.
Complete referrals for medical exams and therapy.
Testify in family and criminal court proceedings.
Participate in internal peer review and external peer review through South Carolina Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers.
Consult with Forensic Supervisor on weekly basis for case consultation.
Maintain APSAC qualifications and yearly CEUs.
Comply with state licensure guidelines.
Perform other related duties as required.
Training:
Training in Forensic Evaluation of children, preferably through National Children’s Advocacy Center or CornerHouse.
Maintaining an expert awareness of current trends, research and developments in the field of forensic interviewing.
Participating in curriculum development for any professional training programs generated by CAC.
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Licensed Master level mental health professional, Master’s Degree in Social Work or related field.
Clinical Interviewing and assessment skills in evaluating and treating sexually and physically abused children and their families.
Knowledge of child development stages and a demonstrated ability to utilize this knowledge to communicate with children.
Ability to work with a wide range of children from different cultural backgrounds.
Minimum of 2 years prior experience working with children.
Knowledge of Child Protection, Law Enforcement, and Court systems.
