Get Involved!
Public Awareness:
Assist with updating the newsletter and donor mailing lists, write/secure articles for the newsletters, secure in-kind donations, and promote fund raising events. Help is also needed with setting up and staffing booths at public awareness/health fair presentations.
Office Assistant:
Regularly scheduled helpers are needed Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm (at least a 2-hour period) to answer telephones; maintain files and charts; shred documents; data entry, etc. People are also needed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 pm to greet counseling group members and direct them to meeting rooms. Office work such as folding, addressing, and stuffing envelopes can be done on-site or at home.
Reception Area:
Keep play/waiting area neat, assess need for books, games, and other activities for children and re-stock as necessary.
Building & Grounds:
Groups or individuals needed for lawn maintenance and beautification (cut grass, trim shrubbery, pull weeds, mulch, etc.) Groups or individuals are also needed to help with building maintenance and repair.
Other Opportunities:
The Children's Advocacy Center has a collection of seasonal/holiday decorations and needs help with displaying and taking down these decorations: particularly at Christmas time.
There are on-going volunteer opportunities in fund raising: placing phone calls, organizing and setting up breakfasts, agency tours, and other events.
Also, you can "Like" the Children's Advocacy Center of Spartanburg page on Facebook and be kept informed on upcoming events and volunteer opportunities at the center while also being provided with information and announcements about abuse.
We ask that volunteers who work with Children's Advocacy Center maintain strict confidentiality of our clients and their files. All volunteer applicants are also asked if they have ever been convicted of a crime or a founded case of child sexual or physical abuse and must be willing for CAC to secure a criminal history and Central Registry (child abuse) verification. All of this is for the protection and safety of the children we serve.
